[00:00:51] Donna Hoover: I have retired from producing TV commercials and working in media production for most of my career. I currently write for a magazine and just finished writing my first book. 

[00:01:05] Mike Roth: Does your book have a title? 

[00:01:06] Donna Hoover: It does. It's called Wandering in the Shadows. 

[00:01:09] Mike Roth: Wandering In the Shadows. And I'll tell you something about myself.

I'm Mike Roth. I started my career in the world of the Fortune 1000, got involved in the computer industry. first as a competitor to IBM, then was the number one salesperson at a division of IBM. I recognized I was a better salesperson than anybody else, and I didn't need a base salary. I wanted to be on a hundred percent commission, so I started my own company.

We were selling phone systems and voicemail machines when voicemail was brand new and people didn't wanna buy it because they didn't understand it. It was a very interesting time. then I graduated out of that business, sold it, moved to Cincinnati, and for 25 years I ran a Sandler training sales franchise where we trained salespeople and company owners to be better managers or salespeople, even did customer service training.

And then I retired to the Villages, and that's where I met Donna. 

[00:02:07] Donna Hoover: That's right.

[00:02:08] Mike Roth: We need a closing sentence on that, don't we? 

[00:02:09] Donna Hoover: It's funny when I first read it, welcome to mature adults with Donna and Mike. I just thought to myself to say something like, the way we're saying that, it sounds like it might be R rated or something. Haven't you ever watched a TV show where it is rated mature adults only?

I don't know. That's just what came to my mind. 

[00:02:27] Mike Roth: We'll make it clear to our listeners that I'm not married to Donna and she's not married to me, and we're just acquaintances. we decided to do this podcast to give people information about how seniors can have a full and act of life, 

[00:02:42] Donna Hoover: and it's rated PG 

[00:02:43] Mike Roth: We're gonna be doing the show twice a month The show will be launched in about three weeks from the time this is first aired, 

[00:02:50] Donna Hoover: and we have a full arsenal of exciting topics you are not going to want to miss. 

[00:02:57] Mike Roth: And what is the first topic we're gonna talk about, Donna? 

[00:03:00] Donna Hoover: The first one we're gonna talk about is The importance of technology for seniors. A lot of us have not embraced, it, or maybe we have on a low level, but it's coming fast and furious at us, especially with ai. So it's really important to understand this 

[00:03:14] Mike Roth: and I don't think seniors wanna be left out. They wanna take every part of life that they can.

Our second show is gonna be talking about health and wellness. Who doesn't wanna stay? Healthy. 

[00:03:25] Donna Hoover: That's right. there's a lot of considerations. Everything from mental health to emotional health if you have current health conditions or if you just wanna stay healthy. And we're gonna touch on a lot of those things, 

[00:03:36] Mike Roth: we'll talk about what kind of insurance you should have. 

[00:03:39] Donna Hoover: Good. Thank you. 

[00:03:40] Mike Roth: I think everyone needs to know that. Then our next show we're gonna be talking about. Travel and adventure. Seniors have a lot of time Many of us are retired and wanna do some traveling.

Yeah. And some people like me wanna change their style of traveling because I am a notorious over packer and I'm trying to learn how to pack light. And then we're gonna be talking about growth. In your communities. We know that many people live in communities that have been growing and are concerned about it.

we'll talk about some of the things that have affected us here in the villages area, but they also affect people in other towns and counties all over the country. 

[00:04:20] Donna Hoover: Like traffic patterns and the like. 

[00:04:22] Mike Roth: Great. we plan to talk about. At least three dozen more topics 

We're gonna be talking on this show twice a month, and hopefully you'll be able to tune in the first or third Mondays at 9:00 AM when we release a new show. The shows will be available on Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, tune in Buzzsprout, and about 20 other standard podcast platforms.
